Xiaomi has finally launched its much-awaited Mi Max in India but not without an embarrassing incident. Mi fans, who had gathered to witness the launch of the device, reportedly turned unruly and shouted unpleasant slogans at the company over not giving freebies and not allowing their friends to the event.

The incident happened at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Thursday in New Delhi where the Xiaomi Mi Max was launched. Like in the past, the Chinese technology giant had invited its fans to the launch event but the turnout was more than expected, leading to chaos and call-in of Delhi police to avoid any untoward incident.

According to NDTV Gadgets360, Mi fans, who were gathered to witness the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Max, started shouting unpleasant slogans about the company. When Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain enquired fans about their disappointment, it was learnt that they were not happy over not receiving Xiaomi T-shirts that were distributed to some those present. They were also upset after some of their friends were not allowed to witness the event.

The report went on to say that Manu Jain apologised to the angry crowd over shortage of free T-shirts, saying that the turnout was more than they had expected. He assured that everyone present at the event would get the T-shirts, even if at a later date, but some fans were still visibly upset. The crowd eventually calmed down on the arrival of Delhi police.

Xiaomi released the Mi Max base model with 32GB storage, 3GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor priced at Rs. 14,999, and the top-end variant with 128GB storage, 4GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor costing Rs. 19,999. There was no word if the mid-tier model with 64GB storage, 3GB RAM, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 will be released in India.

The Xiaomi Mi Max features a 6.44-inch with a display resolution of 1,080x1,920 pixels (342 ppi pixel density), an Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8, memory expandable up to 256GB via microSD card, and a 4,850mAh battery. It also mounts a 16MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash, and a 5MP front-snapper with f/2.0 aperture.
