After briefly showcasing the updated Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness tracker during the launch of Mi Max in China on May 10, Xiaomi has finally revealed the date on which its new wearable would go on sale in China. During a Q&A session after the launch of the Mi Drone on Wednesday, Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun said the Mi Band 2 would hit the market on June 7, according to GizmoChina via MyDrivers.

Jun did not reveal the actual release date of the Mi Band 2, but confirming the sale date would mean the launch will take place either on June 7 or before that. The fitness tracker was originally expected to be launched alongside the Mi Max and MIUI 8 earlier this month, but the company was hit by production issues, delaying the launch by a month.

Xiaomi has refrained from teasing the Mi Band 2, like it does with other upcoming products. But the new wearable is expected to bring several upgrades that were not seen in the successful Mi Band. According to rumours, the Mi Band 2 is expected to feature a display that will show time and battery status.

The Mi Band 2 is also expected to be less dependent on a connected smartphone for activities like jogging and working out, so users need not carry the phone within the proximity range.

Xiaomi did not reveal its plans to make the Mi Band 2 internationally available, but it is only a matter of time. India is the second-largest market for Xiaomi and the new product is likely to see the light of the day soon. The company's first Mi Band at Rs. 999 was a grand success and thousands of units of it have been sold so far.

Xiaomi's Mi Max is also due to make its Indian debut, but the company's Redmi Note 3 is selling exceptionally in its weekly open sales, Xiaomi's Global VP Hugo Barra said last week.
