The premiere episode of the upcoming "The X-Files" miniseries, which is all set to be telecast in January, 2016, was screened at the MIPCOM television trade fair in Cannes.

Chris Carter, the creator of the original 1993 "The X-Files" show, said at the fair that the upcoming miniseries will have the original credit sequence from the 90s show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Carter further added that while the main cast members will be different in the miniseries, the UFO inspired photos and signature music will be same as the original one.

"We thought about doing some changes to the original credits, but then it seemed like sacrilege. Those credits were on 202 episodes. They belong on these next six," he added.

Carter also assured the fans that there will be more to the miniseries than the announced six episodes. Recalling David Duchovny's statement in an interview with The Huffington Post earlier this year, he teased that "Mulder and Scully will be in wheelchairs before we are finished."

Duchovny played the character of Mulder in the original series and had expressed interest in working in a miniseries annually. According to him, the cast members were busy with other projects and hence, did not have much time to do the full series.

"Another miniseries will give the creative team a little more room to play with the stories in comparison with a two hour long movie," he said.

Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will reprise their roles of Mulder and Scully in the new miniseries and will reunite to open the X-Files again after coming across new evidences related to a global conspiracy.

Besides Mulder and Scully, prominent characters like Skinner (Mitch Pileggi), the Cigarette Smoking Man (Michael B. Davis) and the Lone Gunmen will also join the cast of the upcoming miniseries. New characters include two FBI agents (Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose) who are very similar to the original X-Files team.

"The X-Files" miniseries is all set to hit television screens on 24 January, 2016 on Fox.
