Shahid Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer "Udta Punjab" had a good run at the worldwide box office. The film has grossed over Rs. 60 crore from the worldwide box office in just four days.

"Udta Punjab," directed by Abhishek Chaubey, has minted Rs. 53.19 crore gross (Rs. 38.30 crore nett) from the domestic box office and Rs. 8.45 crore from the overseas box office. The four-day worldwide box office collection of "Udta Punjab" stands at Rs. 61.65 crore.

"#UdtaPunjab was STEADY in North + plexes of metros... Decline in biz on Mon [from Fri] is 55.22%... Week 1 should close at ₹ 49 cr [+/-]...#UdtaPunjab Fri 10.05 cr, Sat 11.25 cr, Sun 12.50 cr, Mon 4.50 cr. Total: ₹ 38.30 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"#UdtaPunjab fares well Overseas... Opening weekend: $ 1,254,121 [₹ 8.45 cr] on 249 screens... Best in USA and Middle East," he added.

Despite all the controversies, "Udta Punjab" shone at the worldwide box office. However, trade analysts expected a better first day and opening weekend box office collection. Citing the free publicity "Udta Punjab" received from the censor board controversy, trade analyst Amod Mehra said that the film failed to cash in a good amount from the box office.

"The trade was expecting the huge free publicity (courtesy the controversy over censorship) that was bestowed on 'Udta Punjab' to help the film garner a huge opening. But, it opened to an average response on Friday with North India bringing in maximum revenue. The collections improved over the weekend and the film managed to register a respectable weekend. Made at a modest budget, 'Udta Punjab' should be able to sail through to the safety mark comfortably," Mehra told Mid-Day.

"Udta Punjab," produced by Anurag Kashyap's Phantom Pictures and Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, is a hard-hitting take on the issue of drug trafficking in Punjab. The film features Shahid, Alia, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead roles.
