Forbes India has released their 2018 list of the 100 richest celebrities and Salman Khan has finished on top of the list for the third successive year while Virat Kohli reached second.

Salman Khan is reported to have earned a whopping Rs 253.25 crore over the period of a year starting October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018.

Indian cricket captain, Virat Kohli finished as the highest earning sportsperson in the country and ahead of his captaincy predecessor MS Dhoni with estimated earnings amounting to Rs 228.09 crore.

Kohli is beyond doubt the poster boy of world cricket and has built a formidable brand for himself, marketing almost everything from watches, cars, and sporting goods, to motorbikes, clothes, ride services, tires, snacks, health foods, headphones, and even toothbrushes.

Apart from Kohli and Dhoni, who finished at fifth spot with Rs 101.77 crore, other cricketers on the list include Sachin Tendulkar (9), Rohit Sharma (23), Hardik Pandya (27), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (52), KL Rahul (59) and Jasprit Bumrah (60).

Notably, Deepika Padukone has become the first woman ever to feature in the top 5 of this list with Rs 112.8 crore earning.

As per the publication, there are 18 women on this year's list while there were 21 the previous year. Apart from Deepika, Alia Bhatt (12), Anushka Sharma (16), PV Sindhu (20), Katrina Kaif (21), and Saina Nehwal (58) were also included in the top 100 list.

Kohli who is currently in Australia leading his nation will hope his team's batsmen can correct the wrongs of previous away tours to South Africa and England to help India achieve a historic series victory Down Under for the first time in history.
