Director Rajesh Raman Pillai has been reportedly hospitalised Friday, Feb. 26, the day when his latest Malayalam movie "Vettah" was released throughout India. 

Reports suggest that the filmmaker has been admitted at the PVS Memorial Hospital in Kochi due to a liver related illness. However, the makers of "Vettah" have revealed that he is perfectly well and the doctors have just adviced the filmmaker to take proper rest due to the stress and strain he had during the shooting of "Vettah."

"We are saddened by the reports that have been coming in the from the print and social media about the health of our Director, RAJESH PILLAI. We would like to state that he is doing PERFECTLY WELL & it is not anything serious as has been portrayed in the media. The stress and strain related to the shoot, the endless sleepless nites for post-production works had taken a toll on his body and hence he has been advised REST by the doctors. He shall soon be visiting the theatres to receive the love and applause for VETTAH and for Him," reads the post on the Facebook page of "Vettah."

Rajesh, who began his career by directing the Kunchacko Boban and Bhavana starrer "Hridayathil Sookshikkan" in 2005, rose to fame after the release of his second flick "Traffic" that opened to a tremendous response from critics and audience alike. The movie is also being made for a Bollywood screening. Rajesh's third movie "Mili," starring Amala Paul and Nivin Pauly, was a heroine-centric motivational film and it was also well recieved by the Kerala audience. 

Meanwhile, the director's latest movie "Vettah," starring Manju Warrier, Kunchacko Boban and Indrajith Sukumaran, has been opened to tremendous reviews on its opening day on Friday. "Vettah," touted as a pyscological thriller, is said to be one of the best thrillers in the Malayalam film industry to date.

Manju is seen in the role of a police officer (Sreebala IPS) for the first time in her career, along with Indrajith, who will be seen as ACP Sailex Abraham. Kunchacko plays the role of a mysterious character Melvin in the film. It is a mind game revolving around three people and the lead actors have been garnering good response for their roles in the thriller.
