The former chairperson of Kerala State Youth Commission, Sindhu Joy, Tuesday, March 22, exposed some cyber fascists who had sent her abusive messages and circulated her morphed images via Facebook.
The "Malayalee House" reality show participant has said she will file a case against the cyber fascists under Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
"I am enforced to File case against Some cyber fascist's for cyber Abuse,not only under cyber laws but also under Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code which includes Insulting the modesty of a woman -When a person insults a woman by deliberately speaking words, making sounds, actions, so on...that person has committed the offence of insulting the modesty of a woman under Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code. It is a cognizable offence, thus the police must register an FIR on receiving a case," Sindhu posted on her Facebook page.
Recently, Sindhu Joy made headlines for lambasting director Major Ravi for his sexist remarks purportedly against woman journalist Sindhu Sooryakumar in connection with the television debate show on the topic of Mahishasur Jayanti. The politician had then said the filmmaker's tongue should be fed to dogs for his controversial remarks against woman.
Meanwhile, upon the complaint filed against the director by the journalist, the Kerala Police has reportedly registered a defamatory case against Major Ravi and reports suggest that he has been charged with a non-bailable offence.
