Newcomers' Aruvi has not only opened to good reviews but also made a decent collection at the box office in its first weekend. The movie has been lavishly praised by critics and audience. Now, ace filmmaker Shankar has said good words about Arun Prabu Purushothaman-directorial flick.

After watching the film at a special screening, Shankar took to Twitter to praise Aruvi. He wrote, "Aruvi - A very good movie. Unmasks everything and everyone. Excellent work by Director Arun Prabhu, Adithi Balan and everyone performed very well. [sic]"

Joining Shankar, actor Karthi, who is basking in the success of Theeran Adhigaram Ondru, has given a thumbs up to the flick. He tweeted, "#Aruvi - don't know if it's b'coz I have a daughter,it gave me a jolt. The way director questions & mocks us as society but continues to entertain us in the process amazes me. Aditi's submission & dedication is fantastic.Characters(Emily),visualsmusic all gave a new experience. [sic]"

Aruvi tells about the social anguish of a girl played by Aditi Balan. It is a movie that touches the audience with all forms of emotions. It narrates the story of the girl, who keeps a TV studio under siege.

Meanwhile, there are reports doing rounds that Aditi Balan was not the first choice for the lead role. The makers had offered the film to big names like Nayanthara, Samantha and Shruti Haasan. Unfortunately, they could not take up the Tamil project for one or the other reason.

Will Sivakarthikeyan's Velaikkaran release affect Aruvi?
On the other hand, Velaikkaran is releasing big worldwide on December 22. The film has generated a lot of buzz and the trade experts are hoping that the flick would end the year for Kollywood on a positive note.

However, it has to be seen whether it will affect Aruvi, which needs to have a good run in theatres for at least two weeks to be considered a hit at box office.
