Mammootty to work with this mega-director after 11 years

Mammootty, the Mollywood megastar will soon act in a movie which will be directed by none other than hitmaker Joshy. As per the latest updates, it is learnt that the pre-production work of this new movie is going on steadily, and the makers will begin the filming in the first quarter of 2019.

Close sources to the movie revealed that the script of the movie will be penned by Sajeev Pazhoor. It should be noted that Sajeev was the scriptwriter of acclaimed Mollywood flick 'Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum' directed by Dileesh Pothan.

It was in 2008 that Mammootty and Joshy worked together in '20 20', a multi-star flick that featured Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi too in lead roles. 'Nasrani' released in 2007 was Mammootty's last solo hero movie with Joshy. Even though the film created much pre-release hype, it literally bombed at the box-office and emerged as one of the biggest flops in the career of both Mammootty and Joshy.

For Joshy, this upcoming movie with Mammootty will be very crucial, as most of his previous flicks have failed to make it big at the box-office. His previous release 'Laila O' Laila' was released three years back, and this Mohanlal-starrer emerged as a disaster at the Mollywood BO.

On the other hand, Mammootty is also going through the roughest patches in his career, as all his releases in 2018 except 'Abrahaminte Santhathikal' failed to recover even the production cost. Mammootty believes that his reunion with hitmaker Joshy will bring him one more hit in his career, and thus the box-office drought can be combated easily.

Now, Mammootty is awaiting the release of his most-anticipated movie 'Peranbu'. The film directed by Ram had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam on January 2018, where it received positive responses from critics and audience alike.

Apart from Mammootty, Peranbu stars Aruldoss, Anjali Ameer, Samuthirakani, Anjali, and Saadhana in other prominent roles. The film will hit the theaters in February 2019.
