The Baleno, the premium hatchback made in India by Maruti Suzuki, is all set to enter new markets like the U.S., New Zealand and Australia. According to the records of Zauba that tracks the record of India's import and export data, Maruti Suzuki has started exporting the Baleno hatchback to these countries.
A Team BHP report says that while the launch of the Baleno in Australia is likely to take place in the third quarter of this year, the model is likely to enter New Zealand in the second half of this year. A Zauba document reveals that the India-made Baleno exported to the U.S. is a left-hand drive (LHD) model, while the hatchback exported to Australia is the right-hand drive version (RHD). Powering these exported Baleno is a, 373cc, 4-cylinder (K14B) petrol engine, mated to manual and automatic gearbox. This engine is capable of making 91bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 130Nm of torque at 4,000rpm.
In India, the Baleno powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine that is tuned to develop 83bhp and 115Nm of torque, and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel mill churning out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both the engines are teamed with a five-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine is also available with a CVT automatic gearbox.
The made-in-India Baleno will be exported to over 100 countries from India. The car has already made its debut in Japan, and European countries such as Germany, Italy, Belgium, Poland and Spain. It will also be introduced in Latin American countries, such as Chile, Paraguay and Colombia.
