South star Harshvardhan Rane is set to make his debut in Bollywood with his upcoming film "Sanam Teri Kasam," which will be released on 5 February. However, the actor could have made his entry in the Hindi film industry earlier if he hadn't rejected Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Goliyon Ki Rasleela – Ram Leela."
Rane was offered the role of Deepika Padukone's brother, which was later played by Sharadh Kelkar. The "Sanam Teri Kasam" actor turned down the offer because he did not want to do a negative role. "The fact that Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted me to be part of his film was a high point in my life. I was not looking to do negative roles," Rane told Press Trust of India.
"I wanted to do something new and different. People expected me to do negative roles. I wanted to break the norm and because of that I lost on some great work as well," he added.
Though Rane lost the opportunity to star in one of Bollywood's hit films, "Ram-Leela," he does not have any regret of turning down that offer. "No regrets as such. Its a dream for any actor to be part of Sanjay Leela Bhansalis film. I would love to work with him. I hope he has something for me in his next film," he told the news agency.
Like Shah Rukh Khan, Rane has also started his career with television. He, who ran away from his house at the age of 16, featured in "Left Right Left," which was his first TV show.
Meanwhile, he is making his debut in romantic flick "Sanam Teri Kasam," which has been directed by director duo Radhika Rao-Vinay Sapru. The actor will star opposite Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane. He has also signed John Abraham's home production film "Satra Ko Shaadi Hai" opposite popular TV actor Barun Sobti.
