Shikhar Dhawan, who has been axed from India's Test ambitions for the time being, has said that he has moved on from the disappointment of being dropped from the Test side and is now focusing on his own game.
"Yes, I was a bit sad but I have moved on and I am in a good frame of mind. I am in a happy positive mood. I am enjoying my game. I have got a bit off time and I am going to enjoy my training and get myself fitter. I am happy and once I am happy things go well for me," Dhawan, who was adjudged 'Man of the Series' in the recently concluded T20 series against Australia, told ESPN Cricinfo.
'We have to be consistent to be successful in Australia'
Despite not being in the Test squad, the southpaw believes that India have a great chance of winning the Test series in Australia, but the team will have put in consistent performances.
"I think we have got a very good chance to win the series here. We have to play good complete cricket in all three departments whether it's batting, bowling or fielding and also catching. We have to be consistent and then we will have a good chance of beating Australia," said Dhawan.
The player was India's first-choice opener in the series against South Africa and England, but a string of low scores saw him fall down in the pecking order and is no longer in India's scheme of things. Prithvi Shaw, KL Rahul, Murali Vijay are the three openers who have travelled to Australia.
Dhawan, however, is not too concerned but is looking at getting himself ready for the 2019 World Cup. An ODI series will follow after the Test matches and the left-hander is preparing for the challenge.
"I am going to give my best. I am a big believer in process and once I get it right, other things will follow on its own. Of course, we would like to bring the World Cup back home," Dhawan said.
The left-hander has been one of India's most prolific run-scorers in ICC tournaments and has a great record against the white ball in England. He believes that his record in the country gives him confidence.
"I have done well in both Champions Trophies in England and with my experience, I hope to score a lot of runs in World Cup and give good starts and sail through so that we can get the Cup back," Dhawan said.
