A fire reportedly broke out in Paris on Wednesday, killing at least 8 people.

The fire was reported from north Paris, AFP cited police officials as saying. 

According to reports, the fire broke out in an apartment building located on the 18th street in northern Paris at about 4.30 local time. 

Photos of the fire were put up on Twitter, and some posts suggested that at least two children were among those killed.

Fire fighters were attempting to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire is still not know.  Police are reportedly investigating if the fire was started intentionally, The Associated Press reported.
