Zee TV's "Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani" will soon take a generation leap and before the plot moves ahead several years, it was reported that the makers had planned a consummation scene between Ranaji (Siddhant Karnick) and Gayatri (Drashti Dhami). Post-leap, the storyline of the period love-drama will essentially revolve around Ranaji and Gayatri's children.

While there were reports that Drashti and Siddhant will not be part of the show after the leap, the latest buzz is that Drashti is likely to return to the show as grown-up child of Gayatri and Ranaji.

"The plot will be the same of show taking a leap and introducing the child of Gayatri and Ranaji. Though Siddhant will definitely not be seen post the leap, there are high chances of Drashti Dhami playing the grown up child of Gayatri and Ranaji. Their child will be lookalike of Gayatri who will then teach a big lesson to Badi Rani Maa," a source told India Forums. However, the report said that Siddhant will not be returning to the show after the time jump.

Earlier, Drashti had said that she had decided to quit the show as she doesn't want to play the role of a mother at this stage of her career. "It was a tough choice to make. I had to quit the show, as my character would change after the leap. I was asked to play a mother, and I am not comfortable doing that at the moment," Drashti had told Hindustan Times. "Every show has a destiny, and every actor works hard on a show. When makers want to bring in a new twist to a story or change its direction, alternations have to be made," the actress added while talking about the show, which is close to her heart.

If the news of Drashti returning on the show after the leap turns out to be true, it would surely excite her fans who were disappointed with the news of her exit.
