Microsoft has launched its latest offering, the Lumia 650 Dual SIM (4G), in India after weeks of waiting, but a rough road lies ahead as there are scores of budget handsets currently available in the country. The device has to compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy J7 (2015) in the market.

The Lumia 650 runs Microsoft's latest operating system, the Windows 10 Mobile, and is priced at Rs. 15,299. It looks pricey considering the fact that there are over a dozen devices with impressive features in the market.

Will the new device beat budget handsets like Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy J7 (2015)? It is to be seen if it will survive the stiff competition, but for now, let's have a look at what these handsets offer in terms of specifications:

Display

The Lumia 650 has an aluminium-based metal frame and sports a 5-inch HD AMOLED display with 1,280x720 pixels (297 ppi pixel density). Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 too has a metal uni-body but sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1,080x1,920 pixels (403 ppi pixel density). On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2015) comes with a plastic body but has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 720x1,280 pixels (267 ppi pixel density).

Processor and software

The Lumia 650 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor clocking at 1.3GHz and run Windows 10 Mobile, whereas the Redmi Note 3 boasts of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor and run Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. The Galaxy J7 (2015) on the other hand has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615/Exynos 7580 processor and run Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Storage

The Lumia 650 comes packed with a 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 200GB via microSD card) and a 1GB RAM, compared to 16GB/32GB internal storage (no microSD card slot) and 3GB RAM seen in the Redmi Note 3, and 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 128GB) and 1.5GB RAM in the Galaxy J7 (2015).

Camera

The Lumia 650 mounts an 8MP main camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and 28 mm lens, and a 5MP wide-angle front-snapper with f/2.2 aperture. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 3 has a 16MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP secondary camera with f/2.0, and the Galaxy J7 (2015) has a 13MP main camera with f/1.9 and 28mm, and a 5MP front-snapper with f/2.2 and 23mm.

Battery

The Lumia 650 is powered by a 2,000mAh battery, whereas the Redmi Note 3 has a 4,000mAh battery and the Galaxy J7 (2015) has a 3,000mAh.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 scores over Microsoft Lumia 650 and Samsung Galaxy J7 (2015) as far as specifications are concerned. It has advantage over its rivals in terms of pricing too, as its 32GB variant is priced at just Rs. 11,999, compared to Rs. 14,249 for Galaxy J7 (2015) and Rs. 15,299 for the Lumia 650.
