Akshay Kumar's film has finally entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club at the domestic box office with its net income. "Airlift", starring Akshay and Nimrat Kaur, has become the first film of 2016 to earn over Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office.

Akshay-Nimrat starrer "Airlift" recorded a solid second weekend in India. The second weekend box office collection of Akshay's film is higher than new releases "Saala Khadoos" and "Mastizaade". "Airlift" earned Rs 19.26 crore, which took its 10-day earnings to Rs 102.76 crore.

"Airlift has a FANTASTIC Sunday. Crosses ₹ 100 cr mark. [Week 2] Fri 4.50 cr, Sat 6.50 cr, Sun 8.26 cr. Total: ₹ 102.76 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"#Airlift will be Akshay Kumar's 4th film to cross ₹ 100 cr, after #Housefull2 [2012], #RowdyRathore [2012] and #Holiday [2014]. India biz," Adarsh tweeted on Sunday.

"Airlift" is Akshay's fourth film to enter the century club, after "Rowdy Rathore", "Housefull 2" and "Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty". Last year, four of Akshay's films were released in India, but none of them entered the century club. Akshay's "Baby" was the only film that came close to Rs 100 crore but unfortunately, the box office collection run ended at Rs 95.56 crore.

This Raja Menon directorial film is Akshay's fourth highest grosser ever and now the film is set to break the Rs 106 crore record of "Holiday" film. With a strong hold at the theatres in its second week, "Airlift" is expected to break the record by its 12th day.

The storyline of the film is based on the biggest evacuation of Indians based in Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait Gulf war. The film opened with good box office number and positive reviews from critics, Bollywood celebrities and audiences.

Bollywood celebs like Rishi Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Anupam Kher, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Hansal Mehta, Karan Johar, Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat among others praised the film, Akshay-Nimrat and director Raja Menon.
