German heavyweights Bayern Munich have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Juventus for Arturo Vidal and the signing is set to be confirmed in just a matter of days.

Bayern CEO Karl Heinz Rummenigge announced the big news and revealed that the Chile star will start training with the Bundesliga giants the following week, if paperwork and the medical tests goes through smooth.

The recent development comes at the backdrop of the player himself revealing only last week that he was leaving Juventus this summer and also thanked the fans for staying behind him all these years.

And although the player did not reveal where he was heading to, one of his suitors this summer have finally revealed the big secret.

"I can basically confirm we have agreed terms with both parties - Juventus and the player," the Bayern boss told a press conference at the team hotel in Guangzhou on Thursday.

Bayern are currently touring China as part of their pre-season training.

"All that's missing is the medical and signature on the contract. If everything runs normally, he'll start training with us next week," Rummenigge added.

It was reported earlier last week that the Italian Champions League 2014-15 finalists received an offer of €40m (£28m) for the Chilean midfielder, from the Bavarians.

And with midfield general Bastian Schweinsteiger moving to Old Trafford this summer, it was expected that Bayern would go for some like-and-like replacement. They zeroed in on Vidal and the move seems perfect in ways more than one, as both the German star and the Chile star have similar styles of play.

The Turin giants have stamped an asking price of €30million (£21.2m) for the box-to-box midfielder and Bayern's reported bid of £28m is way higher than what the Old Lady demand.

Fans in social media lapped up the news the moment it was posted on twitter from the club's official handle -

Second Star wrote - "A very very fine addition to the squad. His presence in Midfield will inspire the team for glories!"

Samir posted - "well done fc bayern... we desperately need a athletic, box to box and versatile Vidal..."

According to Squawka Football (which provides real-time football stats), no midfielder has scored more goals (28) in Serie A in the past three seasons than Arturo Vidal and the Chilean also won 45 tackles in the Champions League last season, more than any other player.

With 48 goals and 26 assists, Vidal made an instant impact with the Turin giants from the moment he arrived at the club in 2011, clocking up a total of 171 appearances.

The 28-year-old was also named the man of the match as Chile beat Argentina on penalties to win the Copa America 2015.

Bayern had tried to sign Vidal four years ago when he left Bayer Leverkusen but he moved to Juve instead.
