The first teaser of Ajith's forthcoming movie "Vedalam", also spelled as "Vedhalam", has taken Kollywood by storm and is poised to create history on YouTube.

Box Office: 'Puli' beats a record of Ajith's 'Yennai Arindhaal'

The video-clip that was released on the midnight of 7 October has garnered never-before 'likes' for a Tamil movie teaser on YouTube. Indeed, it is set to beat the record of Vijay's "Puli", which got over 75,000 'likes' and 20,000 'dislikes'. 

So far, "Vedalam" has got 91,000 'likes', thereby setting a new record on YouTube and has become the most 'liked' Tamil movie teaser in recent years. The short-clip from Ajith starrer has been 'disliked' by 28,000 people. It is interesting to note that the clip has got about 10 lakh hits.

The real achievement for "Vedalam" will be in surpassing the views of "Puli", which got above 75 lakh views on YouTube. Nonetheless, reaching close to the 10-lakh mark is not an easy task and it is evident Ajith fans had worked overtime to ensure that the teaser becomes the talk of the town. 

In recent history, Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" teaser had created a similar kind of sensation. The video-clip was viewed by over 44 lakh people. It had got 20,000 'likes' and 1500 'dislikes' on its official YouTube page.

Coming back to the "Vedalam" teaser, it shows Ajith in action avatar. He has intense looks and mouths some powerful dialogues in the clip. All this while it was believed that the movie would be a family entertainer. But now the video-clip has surprised the audience as it clearly shows that the forthcoming movie will be an action flick.

The movie has been written and directed by Siruthai Siva. Shruti Haasan, Lakshmi Menon, Kabir Duhan Singh and Rahul Dev are in key roles. The movie will be released during Diwali.
